He plays for Schalke 04 as attacking midfielder as well as being the same position for Germany national team. He is the son of Senegalese international footballer Souleyman Sané and a former German gymnast Regina Weber. His father, Souleyman Sané was actually raised in France and he came to Germany through his service with French army. Leroy has multiple citizenship (French and German), as he was born in Essen and then raised in the vicinity of Lohrheidestadion in Wattenscheid and due to the fact that his father is French.
Career on clubs
Leroy Sané: Germany’s rising star player for EURO 2016, started playing football when he was joining SG Wattenscheid youth team where his father had played previously. He joined Schalke in 2005. He moved to Bayern Leverkusen three years later. He went back to the Schalke 04 youth academy in 2011.
Sané signed a professional contract with Schalke 04 for about three years that will end on June 30th, 2017 on March 21st, 2014. A football match in opposition to VfB Stuttgart was his Bundesliga debut that held on April 20th, 2014. He played after replacing Max Meyer within 77th minutes with 1-3 defeat.
Leroy Sané was firstly appointed in the German under-21 team by Horst Hrubesch on August 28th, 2015.
